The Anglo-American School of St. Petersburg provides an international education in English for students in Kindergarten to Grade 12. Students are accepted according to the attached categories and Admission Requirements.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Applications will not be considered until all the required documents have been submitted and the $500 non-refundable application deposit has been paid.
- Completed Application For Admission
- Copies of student’s school records from the past three to five years. If not in English, please translate. Include standardized test results and any Individual Educational Plans.
- Completed Student Language and Educational History
- Completed Teacher Recommendation Form
- Completed Medical Information Form
- Copies of both parents’ and student’s passport (information page only).
- $500 non-refundable application fee (for 2009-2010).
English Proficiency
English proficiency testing may be requested as part of the Admission process. Based on information provided, testing and meeting with our ESL teacher, English as a Second Language (ESL) students may be accepted in any grade as long as the number of ESL students does not exceed 6 or more than one third of the class.
If it is determined that an English-language proficiency or academic placement test is required, a test date will be arranged only after the completed application is submitted.
Learning Difficulties
Unfortunately, the Anglo-American School of St. Petersburg cannot provide support services for children with special educational needs. The school strongly advises parents whose children require special needs to contact the Principal directly before applying for admission or accepting a posting to St.Petersburg.
General Information
Before we confirm a place at AASSP, the Principal and Educational Advisor look carefully at the school reports and other admission documentation. These documents help build a picture of your child for us.
Once enrolled at AASSP, teachers are able to build on that original picture as they observe students' academic and social development. From the admissions information and from continuing observation, our teachers are able to build challenging goals for each student.
Children who enroll at AASSP from schools with different school calendars (i.e. January to November vs. August to June) will be placed in the grade they are currently attending (if enrolled in the first Semester of the school year), or in the grade which he/she has just completed if enrolled in the second semester in AASSP.
Should candidates meet our admission requirements and we have space available, we generally place students in the grade which matches their age group. However we consider background education and experiences. Please note that the final decision on grade placement is taken by the Principal.
September 2009
Admissions to AASSP for school year 2009-2010 is limited and not guaranteed. AASSP has reached capacity enrollment for our current facility in most grade levels; however, we continue to welcome applications. As students withdraw and facilities exist, eligible students on the waiting list will be contacted in the order in which the applications are received.
All applicants are encouraged to contact the school well in advance of their relocation to St. Petersburg. Waiting lists for August 2010 exist in Grade 1 - 12.
The search for a new facility continues and it is hoped that our capacity will increase when the school relocates to a new site.
