The AAS Curriculum
Supporting and enhancing student learning through a coherent and articulated curriculum, developmentally appropriate and research-based instruction, and on-going professional development is at the heart of all good schools. Here at the Anglo-American School, we strive for excellence in all of these areas in order to serve our students with excellence!
The Academics section of our website is designed to complement the work of the school by giving the school community access to the outline of the core instructional program (standards and benchmarks) of AAS. Curriculum, instruction and assessment are more complex than a basic set of academic outcomes, though. For example, integrating the IB Primary Years Programme and Diploma Programme into our curriculum serves to connect our students' learning to a broader global context and enriches the learning experience through emphasis on facets of learning that also occur outside the classroom, like experiences in service learning. We invite you to interact with our teachers and administrators in order to understand the rich student learning that is happening at AAS from pre-kindergarten through the end of Grade 12.
Please read our curriculum overview for parents for an introduction to our academic program. Our Academics pages should also assist parents and students in accessing pupil support resources and other education-related websites. Please contact us if you have a suggestion for a topic or link that would prove useful to the school community or if you would like to know more about learning and teaching at AAS!
