• AAS Elementary and Middle School students have a uniform. 
• High School students do not wear a uniform but must adhere to the dress code specified in the HS Handbook. 

NOTE: The AAS Penguin Store is developing an online order form and curbside pickup process which will be shared with our community as soon as it is ready. In the meantime, ES and MS students do not need to begin the year wearing uniforms!

The school recommends purchasing the uniform items from the Penguin Store and the Exchange Shop.

• The Penguin Store carries new clothing:  Polo shirts, white Oxford shirts, school ties, PE shirts, PE shorts and PE pants.  The Penguin Shop currently does not carry skirts, skorts, shorts, slacks or pinafores.
• The Exchange Shop carries gently used uniform items which can be purchased or traded on an availability basis.  
• If choosing to purchase from another uniform apparel supplier, please ensure conformity with the AAS uniform color shades and styles.  Please note: our school uniform color 'Russian Red' is between a true-red and a burgundy.  Bright or orange-reds may not be worn.

The committee charged with choosing the colors of the uniform thought it very appropriate that the red be ‘Russian Red’. The school’s Penguin and Exchange Shops carry shirts in ‘Russian Red’.

The expectation is that all middle and elementary school students will wear the school uniform every day.  If this does not occur, the division principal will have a conversation with the student to find out why the student is not wearing the uniform and steps will be taken to ensure that the student is appropriately attired.

• Elementary school students: Yes, on days when they have PE in their schedule, elementary school students should wear their PE uniform all day. Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten students have PE three times a week; all other grades have PE twice a week. Students cannot opt to wear their PE uniforms on days when they do not have physical education class.
• Middle school students: Should wear their regular uniform to school on PE days. They will change into their PE uniform for the class only.

Yes, students can purchase a variety of outerwear items that may be worn with the uniform.  These items are school approved, and all have the AAS logo on them.

• Safety and comfort have always been a priority at AAS, and therefore large dangling earrings and large jewelry pieces are not permitted.  Studs and small hoops are acceptable.
• No jewelry may be worn during PE class
• Makeup should be subdued and dark nail polish and nail art are not permitted with the school uniform.
• No valuable items of jewelry should be worn to school.
