🌟 Welcome to AAS, Andrew!
As the 2022-2023 school year begins, we celebrate new faculty and staff members who joined our AAS community this year. Meet Andrew May, who joined our community as our Elementary School Homeroom Teacher.
I have been an educator for over 30 years, of which the last 14 have been spent teaching abroad. I wish I had started this earlier!
My education includes:
- B.Sc. (Hons.) Geography – Lower Second (Loughborough University)
- Post Graduate Certificate of Education (Newman College, Birmingham)
- Diploma of Instructional Technology (Michigan State University)
I have taught across the elementary school age ranges (from 7 to 11) and held a variety of positions of responsibility within the UK education system. This has helped give me a sound appreciation of learning development across a range of subjects.Whilst teaching abroad I have worked in both the PYP and American curriculum. This really 'opened my eyes' and helped me to realize that teaching is more than just 'stand and deliver'.
I have enjoyed working with all curriculums, but most importantly I have always enjoyed working with, and gaining an understanding of, the students and the way that each of them can learn and progress.
