We are originally from Austin, Texas, but most recently from Fort Worth.
We have spent 8 of the past 9 years teaching internationally, and have been fortunate to be able to spend 2 years in Bogotá, Colombia, and 6 years in Sumatra, Indonesia. We are incredibly excited to be joining the AAS community this fall! Mike will be teaching middle school math and science, and I will be teaching middle school humanities.
We have two children. Our daughter Wesley Rose is looking forward to her first year of high school at AAS. She loves traveling and exploring new places. Our son Atticus is currently into cars and dinosaurs, and making messes with his toys or in the dirt.
We are looking forward to living in a big city again, and exploring our new neighborhood. Mike is a Texas Longhorn who bleeds orange when it comes to college football. He is ready to start playing softball and golf when the opportunities present themselves. I enjoy reading and nerdy discussions about books. We are looking forward to spending time outside without having to worry about being chased by monkeys (no, really, take a look at the view from inside our house in Sumatra, Indonesia).
As a family, we are most excited to join the international community at AAS, and to explore Moscow and Russia. As Texans, this will be our first experience with real seasons - and after 8 years with no seasons on the equator, we are ready for it! The kids are especially looking forward to winter and snow.
