🌟 Welcome to AAS, Joshua!

As the 2022-2023 school year begins, we celebrate new faculty and staff members who joined our AAS community this year. Meet Joshua McCabe, who joined our community as our Elementary School Homeroom Teacher.

My name is Josh. I am from North Carolina, in the United States. I graduated from Appalachian State University in 2011 and moved overseas. Since then I have been teaching in South Korea, Thailand, China, and for the last 2 years here in Moscow, Russia. A day in my classroom would include interactive activities, games, team work, pair work, and a variety of creative thinking activities. When students enjoy their time at school they're able to learn without even knowing they're learning.

I am a firm believer that we never stop learning, no matter how much we think we know, or how different we might be. Which is why I wrote a kid book about just that, being different. My story follows the life of a curious little seahorse that wanders and wonders the ocean, thinking about how life would be different if it were something else, other than what it is. Since its been published, I've always kept a copy in my classroom library as I think the message is an important one for young minds. I believe that we are all different but that is what's wonderful about us. If we were all the same the world would be a pretty boring place.

My wanderlust for travel and adventure was spurred at a young age by parents that were also avid travellers. I spent Elementary school attending the American School of Yaounde, in Cameroon. Lived for 18 months in Belgium before that, and have called 4 different states across America home in my time there. I hope to inspire young minds as best I can to explore the world and accept its uniqueness everywhere they find it.
